2013 Trip - Day 12 Friday - Tokyo Disneyland

Friday August 30th

Today we got up and ate breakfast early and out quickly to get to TDL at park opening at 8:00. I wanted the highly coveted Monsters Inc. fast pass! We arrived at the fast pass area at 8:05 and saw the CRAZY line for fast passes!

The next 2 photos are of the fast pass line for Monsters Inc.
5 minutes after park opening!

Here I am trying to figure out where these lines are coming from and going to!

By the time we got our fast pass at 8:30 a.m. The return time was 4:30 pm!!! Holy cow!  But, at least we got them! We then walked around a bit and found ourselves in Adventureland.  We went on the Jungle Cruise which was fantastic in Japanese! Our jungle Cruise captain was very animated and you could tell she was having a great time and as a result so were her passengers.

Next we went to the Enchanted Tiki room and then we went on Pirates of the  Caribbean  which I will say that it was a little different than the WDW version-- it started much differently and I think the que area at WDW is much better.  But, I did enjoy the Tokyo version.   I also did some shopping for a gift for my co-worker and friend, Stacey who was nice enough to take care of my clients while I was in Japan :)  We then made our way over to Fantasyland and on to Mickey's Philharmagic and then its a Small World...and I did some shopping lol -- basically we did anything that was air conditioned. Then we decided to take a break from the scorching sun. We ended up getting some frozen fruit bars and sitting on a bench (in the coveted shade) that had a view of Cinderella Castle so we could watch the show without getting drenched!

After this we made our way over to Tomorrowland and had lunch at the Tomorrowland Terrace.  For some reason it was never really crowded in here even when we had dinner the other evening we were able to get a table inside in the air conditioning. It was the same at lunch today, we were easily able to find a table.  The food was really good and I will say everything was always fresh and the hot food was always hot. Never a cold French fry!  We were now able to acquire more fast passes so we got Space Mountain fast passes. Return time was between 1:30-2:30.

It was now getting very hot in the afternoon sun. We decided to take a break and to check out the Disneyland hotel and then take the monorail over to see the Miracosta hotel.  Both were gorgeous. I hope to use our DVC points next trip and stay at one of them.

We then went back to TDL to ride Space Mountain.  It's a little different than the WDW version. The que area has CGI videos playing and there's a large space ship hanging above...the ride is similar but not exactly the same as our WDW version.  The Tokyo version seems more modern.  We then stopped for some snacks and did some souvenir shopping while we waited for our Monsters Inc. fast pass return time.   I loved the que area of monsters. Inc - it was like being in the movie! The reception desk was super cute and so was all the signage.  I LOVED this ride! Again....why dont we have this? They should re-imagine Monsters Inc. Laugh floor and give us Ride and Go Seek at WDW! It's similar to Toy Story Mania but you shine flash lights on the Monsters Inc. logo to expose hiding Monsters.  Very cute!

After this we went back to the hotel to shower and get ready to go out to dinner because tonight our friend Daisuke was arriving with his wife and children.  We hadn't seen him since our wedding and now he has a wife and 2 beautiful children.  Once they were settled at their Hotel (Hotel Okura) Daisuke called and asked us to meet up over at Ikspiari's TGI Fridays.  They were excited to have American food for dinner which they don't get to have all that much in Fukuoka.  Which I thought was so cute.  We take onion rings for granted...they were very excited to order them LOL. We had a great time catching up at dinner and they were staying at  Hotel Okura which was right next to our hotel so we all took the monorail back to Bayside station and said goodnight. We decided that we would all meet up in the morning at the monorail station to go to Disneyland with them.
